Along the way, we pause at the iconic Lake Louise—its frozen, snow-covered expanse framed by towering peaks offers the perfect photo opportunity.

Continuing westward, we arrive at the trailhead of our first hike of the week. After a demonstration on how to use snowshoes we strap in for a scenic trek through the quiet forest trail to Sherbrooke Lake, an alpine gem nestled along the Continental Divide. It’s a peaceful and invigorating way to begin your Canadian Rockies Winter Tour.

A Banff winter tour wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the famous Johnston Canyon, one of the most awe-inspiring natural wonders in the region. The winding canyon trails lead us to frozen waterfalls, towering ice formations, and dramatic cliffside boardwalks. At both the Lower and Upper Falls, witness nature’s frozen artistry up close before venturing beyond the main trail into Johnston Valley.

Our journey takes us to the Ink Pots, a stunning collection of mineral-rich pools that remain vibrant shades of blue—even in winter. The contrast of icy peaks against the vivid waters makes for an unforgettable sight.

Surrounded by the breathtaking peaks of Banff and Kootenay, this peaceful alpine valley offers a perfect balance of adventure and tranquillity. We begin in a dense winter forest, before emerging into open meadows framed by towering summits. Here, we pause for a homemade lunch in a serene, snow-covered clearing, soaking in the spectacular surroundings.

After returning to Banff, the evening is yours to relax, explore, or indulge in a spa treatment—a perfect way to unwind.

Today, we venture into one of the Canadian Rockies’ hidden gems—Kananaskis Country, east of Banff. Our scenic drive through the Spray Valley offers breathtaking vistas of the towering Front Range peaks, a dramatic backdrop to this lesser-travelled region.

Upon arrival at the trailhead, we strap on our snowshoes and set out toward Chester Lake, a pristine alpine lake nestled beneath the rugged cliffs of Chester Peak. The landscape here is unlike anything we’ve seen so far—broad alpine meadows framed by dramatic rock walls and endless panoramic views. With every step, the scenery becomes more spectacular, inviting us to pause and take it all in.

After our invigorating trek, we return to Banff, where the evening is yours to relax or explore at your own pace.
