Trip Itinerary

Although we do our very best to adhere to the schedule below, the itinerary is subject to change for numerous reasons beyond our control, including weather, terrain conditions, road & trail closures and acts of God.

Day 1 – Yoho’s Finest: Takakkaw Falls to the Iceline

Your journey begins in the iconic mountain town of Banff, where you’ll meet your guides for introductions and a trip briefing before heading west into the dramatic landscapes of Yoho National Park.

Today’s hike begins at Takakkaw Falls—Canada’s second-tallest waterfall—cascading powerfully from high above the valley floor. From here, we ascend onto the renowned Iceline Trail, one of the most spectacular hikes in the Canadian Rockies. Travelling high above the valley, our loop reveals sweeping alpine views, glaciers, and rugged peaks at every turn before descending back to our starting point.

This evening, unwind and reflect on the day over your first group dinner in Golden.

– Hike: Iceline Trail, 13 km / 8.1 mi | 719m / 2,359 ft elevation gain | 4-6 hours
– Transfer: 2hrs total | Banff AB to Golden BC
– Meals Included: Lunch & Dinner
– Overnight: Prestige Inn Golden

Day 2 – Into the Heart of Glacier National Park BC

Your journey continues into the wild heart of Glacier National Park BC, where towering peaks, ancient glaciers, and deep valleys define one of the most rugged landscapes in the Canadian Rockies.

Today’s hike follows the Abbott Ridge Trail, a steady ascent through old-growth forest that gradually gives way to expansive alpine terrain. As you climb higher, the views open dramatically—revealing the Illecillewaet Glacier, surrounding summits, and the vast Canadian Rockies stretching in every direction. Reaching the historic Abbott Ridge, once a base for early mountaineers, you’ll take in one of the most breathtaking panoramas of the trip.

After time to soak it all in, we retrace our steps back to the trailhead before continuing our journey.

– Hike: Abbot Ridge Trail, 14 km / 8.5 mi | 994m / 3,260 ft elevation gain | 5-7 hours
– Transfer: 1h45 hours total | Golden to Revelstoke
– Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch
– Overnight: The Regent Hotel

Day 3 – Explore the Alpine Wonders of Mt Revelstoke National Park

Set high above the Columbia Valley in Mount Revelstoke National Park, your day begins with a spectacular climb by van from the town of Revelstoke to over 1,900 metres (6,230 ft)—a gain of more than 1,500 metres (4,920 ft) along the Meadows in the Sky Parkway.

From the summit, your hike to Miller Lake and Jade Pass leads through vibrant alpine meadows, often in full bloom, before ascending to a high mountain pass with sweeping views across the surrounding peaks. This is a true high-alpine experience, showcasing the beauty and scale of the Canadian Rockies.

After time to take it all in, we return the same way, retracing our steps through this remarkable landscape.

– Hike: Miller Lake & Jade Pass, 17 km / 10.7 mi | 678 m / 2,225 ft elevation gain | 4–6 hours
– Transfer: 1h 15m total | Revelstoke to Mt Revelstoke and Back
– Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch
– Overnight: The Regent Hotel

Day 4 – Glaciers & Dramatic Peaks in Glacier National Park

Today, we journey east to Glacier National Park for a memorable alpine hike beginning near the historic Rogers Pass.

Our route follows Connaught Creek, climbing steadily through open forest and crossing a series of avalanche paths that reveal the dynamic nature of this mountain environment. As we gain elevation, the landscape gradually opens into expansive alpine meadows, offering wide-ranging views over the Cougar Valley and the surrounding peaks of the Selkirk Mountains.

Higher up, the scale of the terrain becomes even more apparent, with the presence of the glacier shaping the landscape in dramatic fashion. It’s a rewarding day in a truly iconic setting—one that captures the raw beauty and quiet grandeur of this remarkable region.

– Hike: Balu Pass, 12.5km / 7.8 mi | 708m / 2,554 ft elevation gain | 5-6 hours
– Transfer: 1h 45m total | Revelstoke to Golden
– Meals Included: All Meals
– Overnight: Prestige Inn Golden

Day 5 – Alpine Circuit in Yoho National Park

Your day begins at the stunning shores of Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, where turquoise waters and towering peaks set the stage for a classic alpine hike. Following the Wapta Highline Circuit, we climb steadily through forest and meadows, crossing Yoho Pass and Burgess Pass—each revealing sweeping views over the Emerald Lake basin and toward the Wapta Icefield.

Along the way, we travel beneath Mount Burgess, home to the world-renowned Burgess Shale—one of the most significant fossil sites on Earth, preserving marine life from over 500 million years ago. While we do not access the fossil beds, this landscape offers a powerful connection to a deep geological time.

We complete the loop with a scenic descent back to Emerald Lake. This evening, we gather for a final group dinner before continuing to world-famous Lake Louise for a memorable photo opportunity.

– Hike: Wapta Highline Circuit, 18.5 km / 11.5 mi | 967 m / 3,173 ft elevation gain | 6–8 hours
– Transfer: 2h 10m total | Golden BC to Lake Louise AB
– Meals Included: All Meals
– Overnight: Mountaineer Lodge

Day 6 – Kootenay National Park & A Grand Finale Among Glaciers

After covering over 80 km (50 mi) on foot over the past five days, today offers a well-earned active recovery as we explore our final national park of the journey—Kootenay National Park. Often overlooked, this quieter corner of the Rockies reveals wild valleys, rugged peaks, and hanging glaciers in a more relaxed setting.

Our final hike takes us through a classic glacier-carved valley, across vibrant avalanche slopes often filled with wildflowers, and alongside ancient fossil beds that speak to the region’s deep geological history. Framed by the towering walls of Stanley Peak, we pause for one last picnic lunch in this spectacular setting.

From here, we return to Banff, where we share our farewells—closing out an unforgettable journey through the Canadian Rockies.

– Hike: Stanley Glacier, 8.4 km / 5.2 mi | 365m /1,200 ft elevation gain | 3-5 hours
– Transfer: 1h total | Lake Louise to Banff
– Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch
