My wife and I did the camping hiking trip to honor my father who had recently passed. He loved Banff and went there frequently. I hadn't ever been and felt that it would connect me with him. The trip was one of the best I've had in my life. The views from our daily hikes were spectacular and we'll never forget it. We also did the river rafting, which was a first for us and we loved it. We were scared, but went anyway and were so happy that we did. The RMAT guides were excellent with the right amount of knowledge and lightness that we all had a good time and lots of laughs. We lucked out with a great group of people to share this experience with and great connections. My dad would be happy that we went and experienced it for ourselves. Now my daughter wants to go. Maybe next trip will be with her. Thanks RMAT for the awesome experience. It was a dream come true. And hopefully we'll be back.

We joined the hiking group on July 26-31, 2026 and LOVED it. The leaders kept an easy pace that even the slowest person could keep up with. That made the climbing to insane elevations easy to cope with. We got a lot of value for the money we spent. Will definitely be looking at their BC tours next summer.

Rocky Mountain Adventure Tours is a very well run organization with excellent guides, an enjoyable and varied itinerary, and the 6 day hiking trip provides excellent value for the money. We had looked at going on our own and it would have been significantly more expensive, complicated, and we wouldn't have felt as safe as with the tour. The included accommodation was also above expectations. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner and he is a very knowledgeable and capable individual and went out of his way to make sure we were highly satisfied with all aspects of the trip. I also liked that they plan for a 1 guide per 6 hikers, which facilitates a good level of safety and communication. I highly recommend the 5 night, 6 day hiking trip with this organization (we were on the July 26-31, 2026 tour). Photos: Moraine Lake, Peyto Lake.

Today I hiked the Iceline Trail in Yoho (6 miles of it) with my good friend and we were both extremely happy with having Etienne as our guide! He listened carefully, was patient and encouraging, and extremely knowledgeable not only about the terraine, but about Canada as well. Treat yourself to an adventure where you're picked up at your door and have someone who knows everything you need to do, and know, to make your adventure a complete success!

I just finished my second trip with Rocky Mountain Adventure Tours, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. My first trip with them was a snowshoeing adventure, and my second was a week-long summer camping trip. Both experiences have been exceptional. Everything was well organized and thoughtfully planned from start to finish. The booking process was smooth, and the pre-trip information, including what to bring and how to be ready, made everything easy and stress-free. Even the final day of the trip was planned perfectly, allowing us to enjoy our last adventure while still having plenty of time to catch the shuttle to Calgary. Our guide, Emilie was fantastic! She was incredibly kind, positive, and approachable, but also very knowledgeable about the area and always happy to answer questions or offer help. Her enthusiasm made the trip even more enjoyable. I highly recommend RMAT to anyone looking for a well-organized, memorable adventure in the Canadian Rockies!

Etienne did an amazing job with our private hike. He picked a great hike that was challenging and had good views. It was also away from a lot of the crowds. He also gave us some good information about things to do for the rest of our trip. I highly recommend booking with this company.

Guided day hike of Annette Lake. It was easily the highlight of our trip to Canmore/Banff. Very small group, excellent guide, clear communication, and unbelievable sites. Perfect balance of a challenging but doable hike

Fabulous trip! I had never gone snowshoeing before and it was easy to pick up. Etienne, our Guide was fantastic! Very knowledgeable about the history and fun facts along the way. He even had home made sandwiches and soup for our lunch each day - and it was delicious. The views at every turn are stunning! Highly recommend this adventure!

Encore merci.

About Us

Experience the Canadian Rockies

We are a family-owned and operated adventure tour company based in the heart of the Bow Valley, proudly rooted in the Canadian Rockies. Our mission has always been simple: to provide safe, authentic, and unforgettable mountain experiences for every guest who travels with us.

Our story began in 1977 with our sister company, Rocky Mountain Cycle Tours, a pioneer in the adventure tourism industry. For over 15 years, our hiking and snowshoeing adventures were offered exclusively through REI Experiences, where we had the privilege of guiding thousands of members through the awe-inspiring landscapes of Banff and Jasper National Parks.

Following REI’s decision to close their travel division, we saw an exciting opportunity to open these world-class experiences to everyone. Today, we are thrilled to welcome new adventurers to explore the rugged trails, alpine lakes, and glacier-fed valleys that make the Canadian Rockies one of the most spectacular destinations on earth.

Whether you’re joining us for a summer hike or a winter snowshoe adventure, you can count on knowledgeable local guides, personalized service, and a deep commitment to sustainability and stewardship.

We can’t wait to share our backyard with you—welcome to the Rockies!
